Amazing illusion

I first brought you the amazing illusion in the video below in February 2012. At that time, I explained how I verified that what my eyes and yours tell us is utter BS. It takes a little effort to get this proof, but now I found a video that clearly demonstrates the proof that there's no hanky panky, and without any effort from you other than clicking on the play button. You may want to view my original posting here, first.

Is this true?

You may need to click on the image to enlarge it.

So, are the squares marked "A" and "B" the same colour? Not bloody likely, eh? Actually, they are. Okay, look again. Still not convinced? Neither was I, so here's what I did. I right-clicked on the image on the website where I had found it and selected "Copy Image". Then, I launched Paint.Net (you can use any graphics program (such as MS-Paint) that has a "colour picker" tool) and pasted the image.

Next, I used the colour picker to select the colour of the square marked "A". I selected the paintbrush tool (any function that will "write" will do) and made a swatch on the white area of the image.

I repeated the above for the square marked "B" and lo and behold, the two swatches are exactly the same colour.

The reason for this optical illusion is the shadow cast by the cylindrical figure in the image. Even knowing this, our eyes are so completely fooled that the squares still appear to be very different colours. This is one of the best illusions I've "never" seen.

It's bottom of the ninth with two out...

What's up with baseball announcers these days? Why do they keep informing the viewers over and over...and over again about the current status of the game? For instance: "There's a man on first with two outs at the bottom of the third in a zero-zero tie". Uh, thanks, but I know all that--it's right there on the screen...constantly.

I guess because of technology, the requirements of the job have changed--they just forgot to CC: the announcers on the memo. They should stick to analysis of the game and throw in a little personal stuff here and there. Maybe they don't have enough interesting or insightful things to say and have to back fill with um, filler. Whatever the reason, I want my money back.
